Raymond James Adds $400M Alabama Advisor to Independent Division

Chris Helton, a financial advisor in Huntsville, Ala., with about $400 million in client assets, has joined Raymond James Financial Services, the firm’s independent broker/dealer channel. He was previously with Synovus Securities, a full-service broker/dealer and investment advisory in Columbus, Ga., for 14 years.
The practice, which will operate as Helton Wealth Management, serves high-net-worth individuals, business owners and those nearing or in retirement.
“Raymond James offers the type of independent environment that I want to operate in, where I can focus solely on helping my clients with all aspects of their financial lives,” Helton said in a statement. “At the same time, the firm provides advanced technology, resources and product offerings, so I’m well equipped with the tools and flexibility to help provide clients with an excellent level of service.”
Raymond James announced last year that current CFO Paul Shoukry will succeed CEO Paul Reilly as head of the company on Feb. 20, 2025, part of a broader “multi-year succession planning process.” The firm also promoted Tom Walrond to lead Raymond James & Associates, the firm’s employee advisor channel. In November, the company announced that Shannon Reid would head the firm’s independent contractor division.
