In Session: Carly Zakin – The Aspen Institute
Carly Zakin is the co-founder and co-CEO of theSkimm, a digital media company dedicated to giving its audience of 16 million the information they need to navigate life’s most important decisions. Thirteen years since its founding, theSkimm has grown into a media ecosystem, seamlessly integrating into its audience’s existing routines, fundamentally changing the way they consume news.
As theSkimm has grown and evolved, so too has Carly. She is a member of the 2020 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. From embracing the unknown that inherently comes with founding a start-up, to learning how to seek out new mentors and advisors, her lessons in leadership are vital for leaders in any profession or situation.
This video is a part of our new series In Session, where we ask leaders from across the Aspen Institute network to reflect on their own leadership journeys and offer practical wisdom gained from their experiences.
