“CEDAM is grateful for Consumers Energy Foundation’s continued partnership,” said CEDAM executive director Eddie Fakhoury. “These funds allow us to strengthen local programs, provide training, technical assistance, and resources, and help ensure families across Michigan have access to the services they need to succeed.”

The grant will support CEDAM’s multi-pronged approach to individual asset-building, including initiatives in free tax preparation, consumer protection, affordable housing, and resource navigation, helping families access the tools and services they’ve earned. During the 2025 filing season, 1239 volunteers across the state helped Michiganders save more than $17 million in tax preparation fees and claim more than $70 million in refunds. 

“We are proud to support CEDAM’s continued leadership in expanding economic opportunity for Michigan families,” said Catherine Wilson, secretary and treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “By strengthening community-based programs, this partnership helps ensure more Michiganders can keep more of what they earn and build long‑term financial stability.”
