Capital Group, SMArtX, BondBloxx Roll Out New Model Portfolios

In separate announcements, Capital Group, SMArtX and BondBloxx unveiled several new model portfolios.
For its part, Capital Group, launched eight new active model portfolios comprising its all-active ETFs. Capital Group is the second asset manager to build a suite of model portfolios from proprietary active ETFs, joining Dimensional Fund Advisors.
Capital Group launched its first six active ETFs three years ago. It currently offers 22 ETFs in the U.S., with over $53 billion in AUM.
“We know nearly two-thirds of the highest growth financial professionals incorporate models into their practices, which can afford them more time with their clients,” Holly Framsted, head of product group at Capital Group, said in a statement. “We have adopted a listen-and-launch approach to what and how we bring new products to market, in the case of ETFs ensuring the strategies address the largest, most commonly allocated categories in client portfolios.”
The model portfolios cover a range of strategies, including a mix of growth and income.
Capital Group has grown its suite of model portfolios to approximately $61 billion in AUM since launching its first ones in 2016.
Meanwhile, SMArtX Advisory Solutions and BondBloxx partnered to construct and distribute multi-asset model portfolios. The BASE Portfolios “are designed to provide financial advisors with new tools to help them power both goals-based and risk-based investment approaches.”
Under the partnership, SMArtX Investment Solutions will tap BondBloxx’s fixed-income ETFs and combine them with SMAs/ETFs in an open-architecture approach.
There will be three sub-portfolios, including Protection Portfolio (duration exposure), Income Portfolio (credit exposure) and Growth Portfolio (equity exposure).
“The partnership between BondBloxx and SMArtX combines BondBloxx’s targeted fixed income solutions with SMArtX’s disciplined asset allocation, robust manager selection and innovative managed account technology, creating a powerful, integrated investment solution,” SMArtX CEO Jonathan Pincus said in a statement.
“These models offer investors a compelling way to pair the equity side of a diversified portfolio with our targeted exposure fixed income ETFs,” Brian O’Donnell, BondBloxx co-founder and head of sales, said in a statement. “We are excited to provide more choice in the rapidly growing multi-asset model business.”
